As Stones fans hope for another U.S. tour, recently, Universal Music Group has announced that it will reissue the band's 1993 greatest hits CD, Jump Back.
Five nights prior to the release of that package, on August 13, keyboardist Ivan Neville, who played with Richards in the X-Pensive Winos, will be headlining at the Key Club in Hollywood at 9039 West Sunset Boulevard with his band Dumpstaphunk. The label has acquired the rights to release the Rolling Stones catalogue dating back to 1971, catalogue that for the last several years had previously been released or re-released by EMI. Case in point: The 1971 album Sticky Fingers had originally been released by ATCO Records, a division of Atlantic, while 2005's Bigger Bang was originally released by EMI/Virgin. The reissue of Jump Back will have the original cover artwork, and it will contain a twelve-page illustrated booklet with liner notes containing quotes from Mick Jagger and Keith Richards about the 18 tracks on the package.
In addition to his past work with Richards' X-Pensive Winos, Neville, who is also heard on Stones albumsVoodoo Lounge and Dirty Work, has appeared on albums by numerous other artists, most notably works recorded by legendary icons, The Neville Brothers. Ivan Neville's solo albums all merit a listen for those who may have missed them. His upcoming gig at the Key Club will showcase some of his latest work.
